What is Creatinine

Creatinine is a waste material produced in muscles. Creatinine is made up of protein. The chemical waste is a by-product of normal muscle function. The more strength a person has, the more creatinine they produce, the more protein a person takes, the more creatinine levels increase.
Eating lots of protein may also make small amounts of this organic compound. Your bloodstream transports creatinine to your kidneys, where your body filters it out through your urine.

How high Creatinine levels affect our kidney

A high creatinine level signifies rotten kidney function or kidney disease. A high creatinine level means that your kidneys aren’t working correctly as they should. Creatinine levels that reach 2.0 or more in babies and 5.0 or more in adults may allude to severe kidney impairment. Men usually have higher creatinine levels than women because women have less muscle than men.

Normal creatinine levels:-

A normal level of creatinine depends on how much muscle mass you have.
 – For adult male – 0.9 to 1.3 mg/dL
 – For adult females – 0.6 to 1.1 mg/dL
 – For children ages 3 to 18 years – 0.5 to 1.0 mg/dL
 – For children younger than age 3 – 0.3 to 0.7 mg/dL

Two ways to reduce creatinine level:-

1. Stop the formation of creatinine levels in the blood.
2. Excrete it out through urine.

What Should Avoid

1. Avoid protein intake

Kidney patients must avoid protein as it increases creatinine level and instead takes carbohydrates as easily digestible and absorbable. A patient can also take light protein like moong daal, masoor  daal, and moth daal.
