Chronic Kidney Disease Stages and their Treatment

Chronic Kidney Disease is quite a server disease. It also has stages like other diseases. In this disease, the kidney can’t filter blood, waste material and toxins mean it stops working the way it should.

When Chronic Kidney Disease reaches a high stage, dangerous fluid levels, electrolytes, and wastes build up in the body, and the patient starts to feel sick.

A blood test measures the level of Creatinine, urea, and other waste products in the blood to see the functionality of the kidneys. This test is known as an Estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate (eGFR). A GFR of 100mL/min is considered normal.

Glomerular filtration rate (GFR) this rate indicates how much blood the kidneys filter in 1 minute.

The formula to measure GFR includes body size, age, sex, and ethnicity. There is also a chance when any person has no other evidence of kidney issues, and still, a GFR shows 60 that can be considered normal.

GFR measurements can be tested wrong if someone is a bodybuilder or having an eating disorder.

Kidney Patients should be aware of their GFR and stage of kidney disease so that treatment can be done on time.

Mainly in the last stages of kidney disease, many allopathy doctors suggest their patients for dialysis and transplant. Stages indicate that how much the kidneys are damaged so that the evaluation and treatment become easy for doctors as well as for patients.

Now let’s move to understand the stages of kidney disease.

Stage 1 with normal or high GFR (GFR > 90 mL/min)

In stage 1, there is Kidney damage with normal kidney function.

A GFR of 90 or greater means the kidneys are healthy and working well, but the patient has other signs of kidney damage. Signs of kidney damage can be protein in the urine (pee) or any physical damage in the kidneys.

SYMPTOMS

There are no specific symptoms, but in some cases, these symptoms are seen in patients such as:

  • Maintain a good weight for the body.
  • Engage in physical activity such as yoga breathing exercises for 30 minutes a day, at least five days a week.

Stage 2 Mild CKD (GFR = 60-89 mL/min)

In stage 2, there is quite mild loss of kidney function that begins to recognize in kidney failure patients. Reports can show a bit of rising in creatinine levels in kidney failure patients. Signs of kidney damage could be very normal.

SYMPTOMS

In stage 2, the patient can still be symptom-free. But some symptoms that may consider are:

SYMPTOMS
